The Night Circus was Erin Morgenstern’s debut novel. The book is an adult fantasy romance that follows two young magicians, trained from childhood to compete in a duel. Marco and Celia’s lives become intertwined with people in and out of the Circus, and ultimately, they fall in love with each other.
What I enjoyed most from this book was the mix of different viewpoints and jumping across the timeline. I did feel, however, that the plot was dragged out and characters lacked a sense of urgency to change their situations. Despite the transportive imagery throughout, the magical aspect was a little dull. There were times when I could not put this novel down, but in the end I felt like I had circled around only to find nothing. Overall, I would recommend this for readers looking for a unique novel.
