Percy Jackson and the Olympians (2023) is a show inspired by the book series Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan. Percy Jackson is a well known story with many spin-offs, but none of them are quite like the other.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians (2023) is about the journey that Percy had to take to save his mom and find out who he really is. The timing of Percy going through “changes” and the Gods having plans of their own could not have been more impeccable.
Zeus, ruler of Mount Olympus, had a lighting bolt that was stolen and Zeus blamed Poseidon, his brother, God of the sea. Zeus waged war on Olympus against Posiden and gave him a week to come clean and return his bolt.
Percy accepted the quest to find the lightning bolt and bring it to Zeus before the war began. Percy had to choose people to accompany him, and he chose his protector, Grover Underwood, and Annabeth Chase, the daughter of Athena.
As the three went on the journey to find the lightning bolt, Percy used the prophecy told to him to assist them on their journey. Percy just wanted to find the bolt and save his mom, but the Gods had other things in mind.
This spin off really focuses on the difference between the Gods and their children. You’re always trying to see what happens next. I think this show is a great adaptation from the book series and did an amazing job representing the characters. I highly recommend this show especially if you like mysteries and Greek mythology.
