With Major League Baseball (MLB) kicking off its 2024 season, spring training has brought lots of incredible news to the baseball world. Most notably, Zack Wheeler’s new agreement with the Philadelphia Phillies.
According to ESPN, Wheeler has signed a contract for a three-year agreement, and coming along with, $126 million.
Wheeler’s salary will be a groundbreaking $42 million, becoming the most lucrative deal and extension in baseball history. It is in the realm of the richest salaries for pitchers, standing alongside Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander.
Wheeler, who is at the end of the final season of his five-year, $118 million contract, has found lots of success playing for the Phillies. That success is what led him to agree to another three-year agreement.
