CPHS Students Win $1000 scholarship from UTI Challenge

Crown Point Auto technology students competed in The UTI Top Tech Challenge at the Lisle Illinois. The students competed in a written test and a hands-on portion of the contest. Senior Landon Gust and junior Quinten Osburn finished in 9^th place in a combined written test and hands-on competition. Both of the students received a $1000.00 scholarship from UTI.

“I was pretty excited when I won the scholarship and to actually place and win money for it,” Gust said. “In summary, I was pleased with our performance, this is a building year for us due to 3 out of the 4 students that we took hadn`t ever completed in a completion before. The juniors are already talking about hitting them harder next year.”

Jacob Arona is a junior at CPHS. This is his third year with Crown Town Media. Arona became intrigued with video and broadcast work sometime in 8th grade. He does not plan on pursuing media in the future but instead wants to work in the medical field as a nurse anesthetist. Although, he feels that multimedia is something he believes is right for him as of right now. Arona participates in Key Club, Student Council, and Spanish Club. He also plans on joining JV track. Arona will be doing newscasts on Mondays & Fridays on the Dog Radio. To go along with that, he will also be doing weathercasts on Wednesdays.
