The movie “As Above, So Below” is a horror/adventure film based in the Catacombs of Paris. The main character, Scarlett Marlowe, is an archaeologist who has dedicated her entire life to finding one of the greatest treasures in history – Flamel’s Philosopher’s Stone.
She learns that this treasure is located in the Paris Catacombs, and constructs a team of people to document and aid her on her mission. Little did these people know, this journey would lead them to their personal hells. I would rate this movie a 9/10 rating. It was a great movie, having just enough action and horror aspects.
In all honesty, as someone who typically does not get scared by horror movies, this one had me genuinely scared. The jumpscares were perfectly placed and added to the pre-existing anxiety and suspense-induced anticipation from the action of climbing through tight spaces throughout the Catacombs. There were plot twists and unexpected events that occurred, making the movie even better in my opinion. The suspense and added fear, especially combined, were very intense in this thriller film.
Overall, this was definitely a great movie, I would certainly recommend it for any horror or thriller movie fans looking for a new film to add to their favorites as it has the perfect mix of suspense and horror.
