As Halloween nears it is the perfect time to release horror movies. Smile Two debuted on October 18th, 2024, while it followed a similar plot line to the first movie it was completely different. 

From the gore to the plot twists the movie was definitely heightened in the scare genre. Although I don’t usually enjoy gore this movie may be right up your alley. The movie was 2 hours and 12 minutes, which could have been cut down by half. The beginning, where the main character, Skye Riley, was just simply living her life felt like it was dragged out. Then the second half was revealing all of the plot twists that were portrayed in the beginning leaving the viewer questioning what was or wasn’t true throughout the movie. 

The directors chose to take some creative liberties and add new “symptoms” regarding the “disease” that was portrayed in the movie. It was a little annoying to see the added symptoms because you begin to think that it was a whole separate movie from the original. Which leads me to my main point. The movie overall was good, a typical horror with gore and loads of twists, however, the fact that it could have been a separate movie from the first made it seem as though they didn’t even try to make them similar or a part of the same “family”.

 If you like the typical horror and gore then this sequel would be for you. Just remember that if you watch the first and go to watch the second, you may be very disappointed.
