Crown Point Girls’ Basketball kicked off its season with a scrimmage between all CP AAU teams, junior varsity, and varsity high school levels earlier this week. Furthermore, girls’ basketball has officially begun their practices as they lift, go through drills, and play each other in hopes of success this season.
“Practices have been going great, and I’ve been noticing some great changes in team dynamics this year,” sophomore Evie Klepsch said.
Practices have been ongoing for about two weeks, and players report a great shift in team dynamics as the team grows closer each day. Individuals involved are intensely appreciative of the progress they make as a whole each day. The team itself is composed of different talents from every grade, with even a few freshmen involved on the varsity team.
“They’ve been great so far as working together as a team, practicing together every day, and just working as hard as possible,” Coach Seibert said. “I’m excited about seeing the fruition of all of the hard work put in by these kids, and then getting all those awards on the actual court.”
The team’s coaches express their excitement over the new talents they’ve witnessed so far this season. The team is striving for success as they work every day towards the winning of each game. Watching them on the court, these players are always on the lookout for the open person, and they are willing to share their glory for a chance at success for all.
“The biggest change between last season and this season is that this year we’re a lot more versatile as players and closer as teammates,” senior Gia Gagianas said.
Players note and appreciate the newfound diversity of their current teammates, and celebrate their differences on the court with bonding as a team.
Overall, players and coaches alike are willing to work as hard as they can to practice, improve, and win. It is imperative to the team that everyone put their heart into each aspect of the game, and focus on listening to and working with each other. On the court, they are great teammates who make an effort to understand their counterparts and function as a group rather than as individuals. Off of the court, teammates strive for friendship with their fellow players. Overall, the girls’ basketball team at Crown Point has been working tirelessly to overcome any and everything they may face this season.
