Starting something new without much help can be a challenge. However, this is a challenge that Duaa Khan (10), is willing to take. Khan has started a new club at Crown Point High School.
“Since it’s me founding it and Ms. Chevalier, it’s kind of difficult because I don’t have another student to help me understand what to do and how to go about it. I’ve learned that you kind of just need to research and honestly nothing really works out unless you just go for it. I didn’t really think too much. I just went into it and I’m figuring it out as I go,” Khan said.
Khan started a cultural awareness club for all students to get together and connect about different cultures.
“Student UCA stands for union and cultural awareness club. It’s a club where students get together and get to know each other and their culture. It’s also to address issues that are going on in our school,” Khan said.
For Khan, this has proven her ability to lead something big.
“I started this club because I’m passionate about it and because I want to show that I’m a strong leader and have the ability to run something that will hopefully last long. I hope it lasts throughout my years of high school. If it works out well, I would like to pass the torch into somebody else my senior year,” Khan said.
This passion Khan has is very beneficial to our school and community.
