Teaching three different FACS classes and helping run four clubs, teacher Leslie Bonner is all over the school.
Bonner teaches DC principles of culinary arts, principles of education, and fashion and textiles. Bonner is also the costume director for theater, and the sponsor for FCCLA, Fashion Club, and Bulldog Crochet Guild.
“I move between four different classrooms,” Bonner said. “I teach preschool for education, and then fashion is just teaching everyone how to sew. In culinary they’ve been learning about safety and sanitation and doing labs.”
Bonner came to work here in 2009 as a family and consumer sciences teacher.
“I wanted to be a teacher when I was younger, and then I was going to go into dietetics,” Bonner said. “I realized I didn’t want to take all those science classes, so it was an easy transition from dietetics to family and consumer sciences.”
With all her clubs, Bonner has a good variety of students she works with and helps them expand their knowledge in FACS.
“My favorite is probably the fashion club because we do the fashion show and they can do modeling with Michell Santelik,” Bonner said. “I also really like musicals, like doing costume. I can’t pick between the two, those are my favorites.”
