According to the Pew Research Center, only 7.2% of high school athletes move on to play in division one in college. With the winter sports season coming up, division one offers have begun, and with that more and more Crown Point High School athletes have been offered many opportunities to play.
The key element to getting an offer is hard work. “Just keep your head down and keep working. Eventually it will work out,” junior Trevor Gibbs said. Currently a three-star recruit with five offers, Gibbs is an impressive tight end with a bright future ahead of him.
Having the opportunity to play at a higher level brings more than just scholarships. It gives players a chance to commit to something bigger than themselves and come from a small-town player to a world-renowned star. “Never give up, you’re gonna have some hard times but you just have to keep on pushing through, ” junior Nolan Cicero, said to the younger generation. Cicero is currently a Crown Point High School varsity football player with a total of four offers in counting.
Becoming the best you can be is harder than most people think. Football is not the only place Crown Point is thriving in when it comes to division one offers. Basketball season has not even started and the players are already receiving offers. “For every success story, there are those who were by their side,” junior Kaiden Rhodes said. “I’d like to thank my family and God for getting me to where I am now.”
These students have shown their hard work and dedication to their craft. Their reward is the scholarships they earn and chances to play with other equally invested players. With the right support system, consistency, dedication, and most importantly the right mindset, nothing can stop you from making the impossible possible.
