Short Dresses:
The Turnabout dance, or winter formal, is where the girls ask the guys, whether that be with a grand gesture such as a sign or as simple as asking them out. Now one of the biggest posed questions, when it comes to Turnabout, is whether girls should wear luscious long dresses or sweet short dresses to this dance.
During your junior and senior years of high school, Prom is the big dance of the year. Typically, Prom dresses are longer flowy dresses that add to your dream night. For Turnabout and Homecoming, short dresses should be worn because longer dresses are used for the main dance. Prom should be when you wear a long dress and dance the night away in your ball gown.
“When picking your dress, the most popular attire would be a dress similar to the one you’d wear to Homecoming,” The Gauntlet News Website said. “Avoid long, fancy dresses and casual sundresses, and lean toward a short, formal party dress that is comfortable for dancing the night away.”
When dancing and having a fun time is most people’s reason for going to the dance, being comfortable is one of the main components needed to have a great time. Going to the dance in a long dress and heels that could possibly make you trip, is not very ideal for dancing and moving freely. Being comfortable is key instead of being unhappy and not having the full potential to have a memorable night.
Whether you decide to wear a long dress or a short dress, keep in mind how comfortable you will feel dancing in a long dress that could restrict your movements. Also, think about how special the next two years will be when a beautiful long dress is worn for your one or two special Prom nights.

Long Dresses:
Everyone knows that Prom is a dance for big, long dresses. Homecoming is well known for shorter, sparkly dresses. But what about Turnabout? Or, what might be more commonly known as a Sadie Hawkins dance. Personally, long dresses are way more fitting for Turnabout. Since Crown Point High School’s rendition of the dance is during the winter, specifically mid January, it could be considered a winter formal. Usually, winter formal dresses are long, elegant dresses. Which makes sense in a way, considering the wearer’s legs would be more covered and slightly warmer in the cold weather outside. Some people believe that shorter dresses would be the way to go, but that does not really seem true. Turnabout at CPHS can be attended by people in every grade, while Prom is only for the juniors, seniors, and sophomores invited by a student in either grade. With this being said, Turnabout is generally the only dance the underclassmen can attend and wear long dresses without possibly being judged.
