At CPHS, the custodians work to ensure all students and staff are able to enjoy a tidy environment.
Debbie Oboy completes her tasks day after day to keep the school clean and safe.
“I clean the rooms, wipe the desk, empty the garbage, wipe the chalkboards, sweep the floors, and run a vacuum if needed,” Oboy said.
Working at the high school grants staff with the opportunity to make connections with the other faculty.
“My favorite part of working here is the teachers, I get to make a lot of friends,” Oboy said. “They have a lot to deal with, and I think there are really good teachers here.”
Oboy has been working here part-time for the past four years.
“I actually worked in Merrillville, and then when COVID hit and the school shut down, Merrillville did not go back,” Oboy said. “Crown Point did, so I applied to Crown Point, and I’ve been here ever since.”
When not working, Oboy enjoys her retirement and spends the summers at her summer house and occasionally goes to Florida in the winter.
“I have a summer place that I go to in Pearson, Indiana,” Oboy said. “During the winter I do not really do a whole lot, unless I go down to Florida by my brother, but otherwise I just hang out.”
Along with the other custodians, Oboy works to keep the school spotless.
