Pozen reflects on the impact of six years of orchestra
Leah Pozen

Leah Pozen (9) has been in orchestra for six years now, and it has become a huge part of her life, impacting her in so many different ways. She has stuck with the same instrument, the string bass, her entire time.

“I joined orchestra because my brother played an instrument and thought I should play one too. I chose the string bass because it looked like a lot of fun, and they needed more bass players,” Pozen said.

To Pozen, the orchestra has played a big role in her life, and it became a big priority. Over the years, Pozen experienced the joy and achievements, but also the hardships, such as learning a difficult piece.

“The hardest piece I had to learn was Zumba Breakers because it was very fast paced and it was pizzicato, which is when you have to play with your finger,” Pozen said.

Even though Pozen had to overcome the difficulties, she has also been rewarded with the amazing friends that she gained and the lessons she learned.

“Orchestra has impacted me because of my friends that I have made along the way and the great teachers I’ve had,” Pozen said.

Overall, orchestra has played a very important and positive role in multiple lives, such as Leah’s. Orchestra has not only benefited Pozen by learning how to play the string bass, but also she has made a great amount of good memories she will cherish for the rest of her life.
