“The Beautiful,” written by author Renée Ahdieh, is the first book in The Beautiful Quartet. It is a series of four books taking place in the French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana during the late 1800s. This book series involves inhuman creatures such as fallen angels, vampires, and werewolves, along with mortal beings surrounding them. I have only finished the first book and am currently on the second, but so far, the first book was spectacular. I was gifted the book on Christmas by my sister, and I did not start reading it until late January/early February. Initially, I did not know how to feel about it. All I knew was that it involved vampires and some type of romance. The further I got into the book, the more invested I became. The novel is rather big, and at first I was a bit intimidated, but in reality it is not really too bad. I enjoy the fact that there are some parts written in French, as I am studying French. From full French sentences to mixed English and French phrases and words, it is extremely interesting. This book is a mythical romance novel, so I would definitely recommend it to readers who enjoy that in a book.
Overall: This book is absolutely worth reading if mythical creatures and romance are the type of thing you are looking for in a novel.
