Crown Point offers many opportunities for students to expand in their skill sets and interests. Aidan Slade (11) was able to expand his construction skills by participating in the Skills USA competition.
“I did this competition for construction; it’s called Skills USA. I got 4th place in it, and I qualified for state down in Indy this April,” Slade said.
For Slade, going to the competition was riveting. The competition allowed Slade to see a community of people with these same interests.
“It was pretty cool seeing everyone else that was there and seeing everyone else in this environment and field,” Slade said.
While at the competition, Slade was able to learn how to improve his skill set in different ways while competing. This allowed him to better his abilities in this field of study.
“I learned how to do stuff faster and try to be quick with what I do while still being effective,” Slade said.
Being able to participate in the competition helped to create an opportunity for Slade to better his skill set. Slade, through Crown Point, was able to fine tune his mastery with construction and excel in this field.
