Dunlap reflects on his baseball season

With the family history of both his uncle and his great-grandpa being in the league, Sean Dunlap (12) has been playing the sport of baseball since he was 3.

“It’s satisfying being good at something like baseball. It’s super fun, and I do it with my friends. I have learned about working through hardship, perseverance, and discipline within baseball,” Dunlap said.

Being good at a sport has perks, like working through a good season. Dunlap views this season as a success so far.

“Our team has been looking really good.
It is probably one of the best years that Crown Point has ever had,” Dunlap said.

Along with Dunlap’s success in baseball came challenges he had to face as well.

“I had two knee surgeries last year, and coming back from those and having physical therapy has been challenging,” Dunlap said.

Overcoming the challenge of his injury may have been hard, but Dunlap looked toward the bright side to get through it.

“It’s really hard mentally coming back from an injury,” Dunlap said. “Thinking about how it will get better tomorrow and how the grass is always greener on the other side helped me get through this challenge. I knew it would eventually get better.”

Dunlap’s advice toward anyone in baseball or anyone trying to overcome challenges reflects his strong will to do his best, no matter the case.

“It doesn’t matter how big or small you are right now. You will most likely get bigger and you can get stronger,” Dunlap said. “Just keep on doing it, always show up, and give 110%, no matter the conditions.”

In summary, Dunlap not only bounced back from his injury with his knee surgery, but he also dedicated his time to help the success of his team.
