National Honor Society students spread holiday cheer by delivering angel tree bags for children in need

This holiday season, the National Honor Society has been very busy serving our community. Every year, NHS partners with the NWI food bank. This year, they set their goal to raise $10,000 which they surpassed by raising $11,049. NHS also ran the Angel Tree program at Crown Point this year, this involved delivering gifts to McArthur Elementary, St. Judes, and other locations throughout the Northwest Indiana region. The Angel Tree program is designated to provide Christmas gifts for children who are in need of some Christmas cheer this holiday season.

Alyssa Torres, Advanced Coverage Editor

Alyssa Torres is a junior at CPHS. This is Torres’ third year on staff. Torres is the Advanced Coverage Editor this year for the Excalibur Yearbook, so she will provide fair coverage for students. Torres’ passion for writing inspired her to join staff. She enjoys writing copies and stories about sports and clubs. Outside of the yearbook staff, Torres is involved in Student Council, Key Club, wrestling manager, Mock Trial, and CASS.

Samantha Uren, Public Relations Manager

Samantha Uren is a junior at Crown Point High School, this is her second year on the Excalibur Yearbook staff. Uren is the Public Relations Manager of the Excalibur Yearbook. Growing up, Uren's mom was a photographer and this led to Uren's interest in photography and design. In the past, Uren has been the social media manager for a few businesses/organizations. When she's not in school, Uren enjoys spending time with her friends and family. Uren currently plans to go to school to study communications.

Kristina Petkovski, Advanced Sports Editor

Kristina Petkovski is a junior at Crown Point High School. This is Petkovski’s third year on the Excalibur Yearbook staff. She enjoyed working with sports pages her freshman year and decided to become a Sports Editor her sophomore year. Petkovski always had a love for graphic design and photography. She enjoys putting her creative thoughts into something people find memorable. Not only does she enjoy yearbook, but she also loves to involve herself in other extracurricular activities within the school such as Track & Field and CASS.

Iris Estrada, Lead Writer

Iris Estrada is a junior at Crown Point High School. This is Iris’ first year on Inklings and she is most interested in sports writing and photography. Iris is also Speech captain of the school's Speech and Debate team, participates in BPA, and is an active member of the school’s student council. Iris hopes to one day major in business, and have a career in sports marketing. In her free time, she is most often found practicing violin or piano, or listening to music.

Avery Moore, Lead Copywriter and Manager

Avery Moore is a junior at Crown Point High School. This is her third year in the Inklings program. She mainly writes feature articles, and loves the editing process. She wants to go to college to major in Biology and become a pediatrician. She runs for the Cross Country team and Track team, alongside CASS and being a girl’s basketball manager.
