Senior Alexis Chavira is furthering her education at Indiana State University, welcoming her with open arms so that she can pursue a degree in international studies.
Although the school was not her first choice initially, it quickly made a comeback once she visited the campus. The beauty and the welcoming environment made her feel instantly at home. Chavira knew right then and there that for the next few years of college, Indiana State was going to be her home.
Although international studies is not a common degree to obtain, it fits Chavira perfectly. Giving her an opportunity to not only learn about something that is very interesting to her, but also giving her travel opportunities that allow her to explore the world and the connections that people make between different countries and with each other.

Although Crown Point High School doesn’t have an international studies class, Chavira is able to participate in the Spanish Honors Society and take AP Spanish, which allows her to get involved and dip her feet in the water regarding international cultures.
After gaining all of this knowledge about the world and the people around us, Chavira hopes to then work for the government and utilize her skills for good.
