A few months from now, 20 minutes away at Indiana University Northwest, or otherwise known as IUN, senior Cecelia Learnahan will be attending her future college, getting her degree in psychology with the hopes of becoming a psychologist.
Learnahan was intrigued by her sophomore AP Psychology. After taking the course, she figured out that psychology would be a good fit for her future, as her main goal is helping people overcome their mental illnesses.
Although there is no one from her family specifically who is in the field of psychology, she does, however, have some family relatives who suffer from mental illnesses daily, and with just a hint of inspiration, she plans to help others just like them. Having family members who deal with mental illnesses allows her to gain the patience and understand the workings of the diseases before she is faced with them on a business level. Compassion for her is key.
Ultimately, Learnahan wants to pursue becoming a therapist, more specifically an occupational therapist; that way, she will get to focus on her career and her future family.
