Q: How has Cross impacted you over these past years?
A: It’s helped me gain my confidence, and I’ve met lots of new friends who feel like family. I just know that they are truly my best friends, because it’s such a competitive sport but it’s also a sport where we all have to be there for each other. It’s not just a one on one competition.
Q: Are you planning on running in the future?
A: I’m going to college to run. I’m definitely going to continue to run after high school. My goal is to compete in a lot of half marathons and marathons.
Q: What are you going to school for?
A: I am going to school for aesthetics. I’m going to go to Tricoci. I’ll be doing facials, skincare and massages.
Q: Did you choose that pathway for a reason. If so what is it?
A: I intended to go to school for something in the medical field, but it was this year when I realized that it wasn’t something that I would like. Aesthetics sounded like something that would be really nice and I’ve talked to a lot of people about it who said they could see me going into it. That definitely boosted my confidence making me feel better about my decision.
Q: What is some advice you would give incoming freshmen who are planning on being on the cross team?
A: I would definitely tell them that it is not as nerve wracking as it seems. I would also mention to not take everything so seriously and to just put yourself out there. A lot of the people I’ve met on the team are going to be my lifelong best friends. I’m always there for them and they’re always there for me. You need to learn how to be there for everyone.
