The Black Parade is an iconic album written by My Chemical Romance, and they are bringing it back in the most My Chemical Romance way.
To start, the opener, Devo. I was unsure what to expect being that I had never heard a Devo song ever, but they put on a show. Their sound was so energetic and electronic. It felt like I was at a Devo concert because they ruled the stage.
Next, the first part of the show. This part of the performance was like a theatre performance. It gave a whole new life and story to The Black Parade. This part of the show was set in the country named Draag complete with its own dictator and language. However, if you did not know any of this, the concert would still be enjoyable. The energy was through the roof, and the lead singer Gerard Way was really good at involving the crowd and making us a part of the show.
Finally, the last section of the night. This section of the concert was like any normal concert. However, the energy did not leave the stage when the Black Parade did. Since the setlist was not the same for every show the suspense of what songs they were going to play next really added to the experience. For the final song of the night they brought out Billy Corgan and performed “Bullet with Butterfly Wings”. This element made this show fun for everyone from hardcore emos to casual rock fans.
Overall this concert was super exciting and enjoyable. From the amazing setlist, to the energy of the band. I left wanting to experience this show all over again. This concert was well worth every dime.
