Fedak explains how dance has impacted her life

With encouragement from her mother, at just three years old, Kendall Fedak (12) began dancing. Since then, she never stopped. Even with the demands of school and friends, she never lets anything stand between her and the studio. Fedak always makes time for her passion: dance.

Fedak’s mother played a pivotal role in shaping her dance career, offering constant encouragement and support. Her early influence inspired Fedak to pursue her passion for dance with determination.

“My mom was definitely the reason I started dancing; she was a dancer when she was younger. I started dancing when I was three, so I don’t remember much about how I started, but I’m glad I did. I am really glad that my mom did get me to start dancing, it’s what I love most in life,” Fedak said.

Sometimes, the road to victory proves more meaningful than the victory itself. Fedak’s commitment and countless hours of practice drive her toward the success she seeks.

“Getting to practice and putting in the work to get the outcome that I want is the best part of the journey; the journey to get to the win or the accomplishment of a new skill,” Fedak said.

The time, dedication, and patience Fedak invests in dance are truly admirable. Balancing both solo and group performances, she continues to excel not only on stage but also in the classroom.

“The hardest part about the journey to winning is the time that needs to be put in; you have to put in a lot of extra time. Sometimes, it’s hard because on top of school and everything, it’s a lot. I still make time to take hard classes and keep my grades up. It’s a lot, but I still manage,” Fedak said.

With discipline and passion driving every practice, Fedak does what she loves most. Fedak sharpens her technique and explores her favorite styles.

“During practice, we work on memorizing our dances and working on our technique. The genres that I perform best in, which also happen to be my favorite, would be jazz and contemporary. I also
like pom, which is only at dance teams, it is not really in studio dance.
I really love practicing and doing my turns. They are probably my favorite dance move to do,” Fedak said.

Motivation is essential to success in any sport, job, or hobby. Fedak finds her drive for dance through many meaningful sources.

“I just love dancing. I love getting the results I want because of how much work I put in; it keeps me motivated. I also love seeing all my friends, they keep me motivated as well,” Fedak said.

Fedak’s dedication to dance is a reflection of her perseverance and love for the art. Through every challenge, she continues to push herself toward growth and success. Her passion, fueled by her mother’s early encouragement, shines through each performance. With every turn and step, Fedak proves that hard work and heart can create something truly inspiring.
