Neal Shusterman is simply a genius. Arc of a Scythe is a trilogy written by Neal Shusterman, each book carefully and exceptionally written with care and precision. Let’s take a deeper dive into this series. The first piece to dive into is writing style. Shusterman’s writing style is so unique and specific to him, no one could come close to copying it. Imagery and foreshadowing, Shusterman has mastered it all. The books are written in a 3rd person omniscient or narrated by an outside being that focuses on one character at a time. Each chapter leaves the reader on their toes and ready for more. The next component is the plot. Shusterman uses multiple POV’s to give the reader a full view of the plot unraveling before them. Each scene is carefully mapped out and placed to support the plot and even when it might not make sense in the moment, Shusterman ties all the loose ends up for a fantastic ending no one could guess. The third and final element is character development. Shusterman’s intentional and carefully planned out development makes the readers grow with the characters. Overall, Neal Shusterman is an author that has it all. From the plot layout to the tiniest details of every character, it all connects for an unforgettable conclusion. So if you ever go book shopping, or just simply looking for your next series, pick up Arc of a Scythe. You will not be disappointed.
