The Crown Point Community School Corporation School Board has approved three new courses that are going to be introduced at Crown Point High School, catering to the fast-rising interest in these courses, starting next academic year.
These new-approved courses include Theatre Production, AP 3D Art & Design, and AP Pre-Calculus. According to district officials, these new additions are intended to cater to the increasing number of students seeking these programs without necessarily increasing staffing.
The Theatre Production course will provide insight into the workings and leadership elements involved in the production of a play, such as directing, producing, and managing a live performance. Unlike other Theatre Arts courses that instruct on acting, this course will place the student right in the middle of a production and have them put on a show for the community.
“Students interested in the visual arts will appreciate the availability of AP 3D Art and Design, which gives them the chance to create and submit a collegiate portfolio of three-dimensional pieces.”
The introduction of AP Pre-Calculus ensures that advanced math courses are provided, allowing for better college preparation for calculus and other STEM majors. AP Pre-Calculus is created to ensure that students have a solid foundation in mathematical concepts while giving students another opportunity to earn AP credit.
School officials noted that all three courses will be offered using existing resources and qualified staff, making the expansion both academically impactful and fiscally responsible.
With these additions, Crown Point High School continues its commitment to providing diverse, rigorous learning opportunities that prepare students for college, careers, and creative pursuits beyond graduation.
