The Crown Point High School gymnastics team earned its first Duneland Athletic Conference victory of the season Tuesday night, topping visiting LaPorte in their dual meet at the Crown Point Fieldhouse.
Crown Point’s balanced scoring across every event propelled the Bulldogs to win, highlighted by strong individual performances throughout the lineup.
On vault, Crown Point’s Grace Charon placed second and Addie Mathews third, helping the hosts build early momentum. On the uneven bars, Kenzie Kleven took first, while Mathews and Simona Stojceski also landed on the podium in bars scoring.
The Bulldogs continued their depth on the balance beam and floor exercise, with Stojceski and Mathews each contributing key points. In the all-around standings, Mathews finished second overall and Kleven third.
LaPorte’s gymnasts battled throughout the night. According to the Slicers’ official recap, LaPorte scored 91.85 in the meet, with standout performances from Evie Travis, who won the vault, beam, and floor events and claimed the all-around title.
Crown Point’s win improves its DAC record and provides momentum as the Bulldogs prepare for upcoming conference and invitational competition later in the season. LaPorte will look to rebound in its next outing.
