The Mock Trial trams competes at the Hammond Regional

On February 21, the Crown Point High School mock trial teams competed at the Hammond Regional. Both teams placed in the top 10. The teams had two outstanding attorneys and two outstanding witnesses. The outstanding attorneys were Chloe Stewart (10) and Alyssa Torres (12). The outstanding witnesses were Abigail Vester (11) and Mason Dunn (11). Congrats to both teams for their participation in the regional!

“Getting best witness honestly felt amazing. I was really proud of how I did on the stand and that I stood out enough to get a best witness award. I was aiming for getting a best witness award this competition, and getting to actually accomplish that was amazing,” Vester said.

Alyssa Torres
Alyssa Torres, Co-Editor-in-Chief
Alyssa Torres is a senior at Crown Point High School. This is Torres’ fourth and final year on staff. Torres is the Co-Editor-in-Chief, so this will be her first year leading the staff. Torres enjoys writing copies and stories. Outside of the Excalibur yearbook staff, Torres is involved in the National Honor Society, wrestling management, and Mock Trial. In addition, Torres interns at a criminal defense, personal injury, and civil law group.
Duaa Khan
Duaa Khan, Copy Editor
Duaa Khan is a junior at CPHS. Khan is the Copy Editor and the Multimedia Editor for Excalibur yearbook. Khan is involved in many activities around the school, such as Mock Trial, UCC, and is an NHS director. Khan is also the host of the psychology-based show “CP in Session.” Khan is involved in HUM, a northwest Indiana-based cultural dance and performance group. In her free time, Khan loves to read, watch movies, and listen to music. She plans to study psychiatry and become a professor later in her career.
