Student Spotlight: Emily Jen

Student+Spotlight%3A+Emily+Jen

Why did you initially want to start flying?

[I wanted to start flying] because it’s a really fun job and a really fun lifestyle,  you get a lot of time off, and I like traveling.

Would you recommend going to flight school to others?

[I would] definitely, it’s a really fun and rewarding experience.

Did you ever expect to become a pilot?

Not really, I wanted to be a veterinarian when I was really little but then I wanted to be a veterinarian for a longtime. But then I went on flights with my mom, she’s a pilot and it was, like, really fun.

What did you want to be when you were growing up?

[When I was growing up] I really liked traveling and I always liked going to new places and experiencing new things.

How do you feel when you are flying in the air, how did you feel in the beginning?

It feels really free I guess, it’s really fun. I was a little scared for my first flight, but my instructor was right there so it wasn’t that bad.

How do you balance both school and flight school?

I have an internship so I get to leave at around lunch time, so I don’t go to flight school until regular school is over. So it’s, like, the same amount of time pretty much.
