As the 2025 to 2026 school year comes to an end, so does the high school career of the Class of 2026. Upon students’ arrival at high school, many are told that ‘time goes by fast,’ but not many truly feel it until the days of their final semester begin passing by as if they were seconds on a clock. If the Class of 2026 could be described in one word, it would be: survivors. The class of 2026 has been through not just the Covid-19 outbreak but, in turn, a halt in their childhood. Having to quarantine for years and later transition to school with masks and protocols may have been hard for many. If there is one thing that can be said about the futures of the CPHS 2026 class, it is that they will all be alright.
The Crown Point High School class of 2026 has less than five days left of their high school career. Clubs are coming to an end, as well as sports seasons and productions. The clock is ticking, and many are trying to grasp just one second, one moment in time, to hold on to what they once knew before stepping into the next year, next month, next second of their lives.
There is a musical titled Hamilton, written and directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Within this musical is a number titled, “Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story.” As many students around the world are graduating, this is a song they should listen to. Tomorrow is not promised, and neither is today. We can live the lives of those around us, or we can leave our marks on schools, family, friends and even the world while we are here on this earth, because we truly do not know who lives, who dies or who tells our story.
Many students are graduating with friends, while others are graduating with none. No matter one’s high school career or life’s story, everyone matters, and a big chapter of life is coming to a bittersweet end. The question posed here with the Class of 2026 is: what story do you want the world to know? As we walk across that stage, CPHS Class of 2026, know that many are proud, yet some may be jealous, as there is always someone watching the story unfold. Leave a mark on the world as one did here at CPHS. As many walk across that stage on June 2 to receive a diploma, which signifies signing out one last time, know that whoever tells one’s story will be telling one worth while.
The world outside of CPHS may seem intimidating for some, but as mentioned before, we are survivors who will live to be conquerors.
To the Class of 2026, while one long chapter of life may be coming to a close, a brand new one is about to be written. Keep this in mind while remembering that once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog.
This is senior Ma’Rae S. Wallace signing out.
