Brett Jennings is a computer science teacher at CPHS and enjoys the variety of aspects that the school offers to the students and teacher.
While teaching his classes, the students motivate him to work harder while teaching in different types of environments.
“It’s their 1st class and they’re the best at what they do, and I feel like that inspires me to want to bring my best every single day,” Jennings said.
Jennings also enjoys building new connections with his students and having new experiences.
“I love interacting with them and I love helping them. Hopefully, they have an appreciation for computer science,” Jennings said.
Jennings puts in the work to learn more about his students and create real connections in order to make an impact.
“I try to get to know the students as kids first rather than just students. I try to interact with them and learn about them, and hopefully create an environment that’s positive,” Jennings said.
Beyond the classroom, Jennings hopes the lessons his students take away extend further than just programming and problem solving.
“I think the kids are fun, they’re eager to learn. I love their personalities. I love interacting with them, and I love helping them,” Jennings said.
Jennings’ passion for teaching and dedication to his students make his classroom more than a place to learn code. It is a place to connect.
