Indiana University prides itself on their educational diversity, and the opportunity that they provide for all students to obtain the education they require for their future employment. They offer hundreds of different opportunities to foster student success, and overall put an intense focus on the well-rounded nature of their student body.

“With 550+ academic programs and 200+ undergraduate majors, plus the chance to design your own degree, it’s easy to pursue your passion at IU,” Indiana University Admissions Office said. “From the moment you step on campus, we take your future seriously, so we offer career services to help you take what you learn in the classroom and transfer it to the real world.”
Indiana University’s environment can be beneficial in different ways for different types of students. Their varying educational prospects, their booming social opportunities and their unique academic focus creates an environment in which many different types of students have the opportunity to grow.
“I think the best part of IU is individual to anyone who applies,” guidance counselor Lauren Sandor said. “ Some may say that it’s the courses that are offered and the academic rigor that IU demands. Others may say it’s the opportunities that come along with IU, such as study abroad, fraternity/sorority life, and more. It’s really unique to each individual person, which is awesome!”
Specifically, IU Kelley’s business program is nationally acclaimed, and as such provides an opportunity for students to obtain a foundation upon which to build a future business career.
“IU Kelly has a pretty nationally known business program, so going to Kelley would help me learn professionally and personally at the same time,” senior Miles Warren said.
In the broader sense, many prospective IU students are appreciative of the differing opportunities IU provides both socially and academically. Current seniors observe the multiple different ways in which IU sets one up for success in both the education field, as well as for community involvement.
“I’m most excited to make friends, start my life and be able to achieve my future goals,” senior Dalia Ferguson said.
However, IU receives multitudes of applications, which can make it incredibly difficult to set oneself apart from the crowd, especially for majors that may have a larger application pool and a more selective rate.
“One of the most challenging parts is standing out in a large applicant pool, especially for more competitive programs and majors,” Sandor said.
IU is mildly selective, with intense focus on admitting in-state students. While specific majors may experience a higher selectivity, overall IU admissions are incredibly high, providing an opportunity for many students to obtain the education that they require.
“Indiana University Bloomington is less selective with an acceptance rate of 78.21%,” College
Board reported.
Overall, IU provides a plethora of students with the opportunity to obtain the education they require to set them up for success. IU’s focus on not only academics, but also fostering socially successful students is a unique draw towards their campus.
