After school, Chelsea Rosenbaum (9) finds time to help with Sending Sunshine and creates new and lasting memories with her friends and family.

Rosenbaum persuades her friends to join the club with her. She has fun with her friends and sees that it helps the community too.

“I asked my friends to join Sending Sunshine so it’s a lot more fun because I am able to get service hours and have fun with my friends,” Rosenbaum said.

Rosenbaum also recognizes how her involvement with Sending Sunshine has helped her grow. She has gained valuable experience in working with others and contributing to a meaningful cause. Through her participation, Rosenbaum has a deeper sense of empathy and responsibility toward her community.

“Sending sunshine has helped me get better at helping the community because it is an organization that makes cards for the elders,” Rosenbaum said.

Rosenbaum’s commitment to Sending Sunshine has inspired her to stay involved in the future. She looks forward to continuing to make a positive difference in the lives of others and deepening her understanding of compassion and respect for elders.

“I want to continue throughout high school because it has taught me the respect you should give elders, especially when they don’t have any family or anyone that they are close to,” Rosenbaum said.

Rosenbaum’s motivation for joining the club comes from her desire to make a meaningful difference. She is passionate about spreading kindness and positivity, especially to those who may feel lonely or forgotten.

“I joined Sending Sunshine because I love making the elderly have something to look forward to during the day, and knowing that a simple card can brighten their mood,” Rosenbaum said.

Rosenbaum believes that high school students play a crucial role in supporting older members of the community. She feels that by reaching out and building relationships with the elderly, students can help reduce feelings of loneliness and make a positive impact on someone’s life.

“It is important for students in high school to connect with the elderly because it allows us to build meaningful relationships and show appreciation for people who may not have many visitors,” Rosenbaum said.

Rosenbaum’s involvement with Sending Sunshine shows how giving back can be both meaningful and enjoyable. By encouraging her friends to join, she’s spreading kindness, building stronger friendships, and making a positive impact on her community.
