The multitude of sports that Crown Point high school provides for each and every student allows everyone to find their own community and foster their love for the game.
Unified track has been a huge motivator for the students, some finding their closest friends, for senior Jermey Placek he loves getting the time to blow off some steam and run around the track.
“I would say the 100 meter is my favorite, I like it because I get to run with my friends,” Placek said.
Not only does it give them a chance to exercise, but like I stated before, and Placek confirmed, the students that participate on the unified track team love to hang out with their friends most of all. For freshman Logan Bradley, being new to the team he is happy to know that the same friends from his middle school team are planning on being on the track team once again, at the high school level.
“I ran track in middle school, some of my friends are on the high school team now too,” Bradley said.
The “big community,” as stated by junior Zoe Borom, that the kids get from sports similar to unified track is like no other, for Borom she has been on the team since freshman year. Over that period she has grown to love the event known by the name of shot put.
“Shot put is my favorite event, I like to throw things and when I’m at practice I throw the shot puts,” Borom said.
If you ever choose to participate in a unified track, you not only will find kids very dedicated to the event of their choosing, but a huge welcoming community. You never know you may just find some of your closest friends.
