Recently introduced, the Crown Point High School boys volleyball team is officially starting their season. Volleyball has become an emerging sport within Crown Point and the team is looking forward to playing this season.
“Everybody on the team is really skilled, so we’re expecting a good outcome,” junior Tys Wiersma said.
The team as a whole relies on one another to work together and play their own part. Some of the teammates described this team as a brotherhood. The volleyball team has grown closer throughout the seasons.
“It’s a growing sport, and not all of us, especially when I started playing, knew exactly what we were doing,” senior Cameron Qualls said. “So, growing and learning together is the biggest part of the sport.”
Some of the teammates found volleyball to be a cool and maybe even personal sport and explained what exactly volleyball means to them. Many said that the team has bettered them as a player.
“A lot of my friends played it,” junior Jaxson Bandstra said. “I just went there, had fun with them, and then I ended up liking it.”
Volleyball gives the students an opportunity to experience freedom, enjoyment and knowing their own athletic abilities.
“Volleyball has given me a sense of passion ever since I left my other sports behind,” senior Aiden Matthews said. “It has truly changed how I see myself and lets me show off my true competition and athletic abilities.”
At the moment, the team appears to be in a good place on the journey to victory. They continue to work amongst each other to bring the team to the top, practicing hard to ensure they secure future wins.
