Everyone has a different life, but no matter what someone does on a day to day basis, there are always times when those days seem repetitive. Most teens have to deal with long, boring school hours and after that, some have extra curricular activities. Even before the night ends, they have to finish an hour or two of homework. It gets exhausting dealing with the same schedule again and again, and that is when a break is needed.
“When we do the same thing over and over again, it can make life feel tedious,” Dr. Albers said. “When we get stuck in a rut like that, it reduces our cognitive performance, focus and ability to be fully present in the moment.”
It is so important to have that opportunity to pause from reality or even take a vacation every once in a while. It gives one’s brain a refresh and after hitting that reset button, they can get back to their common routine without burning out.
“Studies have found that breaks can reduce or prevent stress, help to maintain performance throughout the day and reduce the need for a long recovery at the end of the day,” The Wellbeing Thesis said.
Creating differences to one’s regular schedule is beneficial but even short breaks throughout the day can cause a great improvement to their daily skills. Being given an opportunity to relax makes a much bigger difference than one would think.
