PRO:
Homework is incredibly necessary during the learning process. Not only do these take-home assignments ensure that students are able to understand these topics independently, but they also make sure that educators are able to grasp what students may be struggling with. By identifying these potential learning issues early on, teachers can assist their students in comprehending the material fully. Homework is overall an integral part of the learning process, and is underappreciated for all of the help it provides for students. For example, a challenging math class may assign numerous practice problems. In the moment, that assignment may seem daunting and quite honestly annoying. However, once a student is halfway through that homework, they may start to move quickly as their understanding deepens. Overall, time efficiency and educational development are key aspects of the learning process that cannot be disregarded.
CON:

When students are assigned homework from each class, those assignments build up and can take away a lot of their time. The last thing someone wants to do when they get home after 7 hours of school is another hour or 2 of homework. It’s a common occurrence when students use other resources to cheat on homework assignments, which limits the amount of material they learn. Those students who have extracurriculars may get stressed out causing a decrease in their academic or out-of-school performance. Students complain about school on a regular basis, but they have good reasons to. People need time to relax and take a break. They need time to spend with friends and family. Students may distance themselves or burn out if they’re constantly overwhelmed with work.
