Pro: Upon hearing someone is graduating early, the main thing they think of is the workload in their junior year of high school. While this is true, many positive results of graduating early are overlooked. Graduating early can surprisingly help financially. Only doing three years of high school can prevent paying extra fees and tuition for your senior year. If one graduates a year earlier and goes straight to college, one can finish college sooner, therefore having less student debt. Additionally, graduating early gives a head start in the workforce or the field for which one is pursuing. Graduating early has its cons, but overall, the benefits defeat the disadvantages.
Con: High school is a stressful time for every student, and those who choose to work or have a sport to keep track of just bring more to their plate. If we add a goal of graduating early, that brings a lot of stress to one’s shoulders and less time to do things. Time is one of the most important things to have during one’s high school career because if a student can’t balance everything they have during the time that’s available, they fall behind, and that causes a decrease in performance. Graduating also gets rid of opportunities like going to prom and senior year scholarships. With the pressure of doing everything a year early, one will rush through everything and miss out on so much.
